Minimum preparation required

We use our own adjustable steel base frame and foundation system so there is no need for a concrete slab to be laid (although we can build on top of an existing concrete slab). This enables us to progress quickly with minimum disruption. All we ask is that the site is flat and level and that you remove vegetation from the site. As our studios are under 2.5m high, planning permission is not required in most circumstances but if you are unsure about your planning situation, do call us.

Highly insulated

All of our studios have fully insulated walls, roof and floor. We use a ‘sandwich’ panel construction, applying various component layers during manufacture in our workshop. This results in a wall panel comprising of no less than five different materials incorporating structural elements, insulation materials and cladding. We use aluminium foil faced PIR rigid insulation boards in the walls, floor and roof. This is widely used throughout the construction industry to help meet strict building regulations regarding energy conservation. This type of insulation also protects against heat gain in the summer months ensuring a comfortable temperature can be enjoyed year round.

Maintenance-free roof

The QuadPod roof has a maintenance-free EPDM rubber membrane, factory cut to the size of the studio with no joints at all. It is topped with an attractive shingle finish as most customers look down on their studios from upstairs windows.

High security doors

The QuadPod is fitted with a top quality, grey vinyl wrapped, UPVC single door positioned in the side wall. The door is ‘A’ rated and utilises a ‘secured by design’ insurance-approved multi-point locking system and is glazed in toughened low ‘E’ Glass.

Internal electrics

Four double sockets, a modern LED striplight and light switch are all included together with an internal consumer unit and external junction box (which your electrician needs to connect to your house mains).

Rapid installation

The QuadPod is installed over two days. All you need to do is choose an emulsion of your choice to paint the interior.

Optional extras.

Horizontal Western Red Cedar cladding to side without door (front and door side already clad) £1000
Outside light £100
Additional socket (can be placed in left or rear wall)    £50
Additional double socket with USB £75
Ethernet socket (wired up to external box) £75
Trunking £100

Frequently Asked Questions.

What maintenance will my studio need?

The cedar cladding will gradually turn to a silver/ grey colour over time although this can be treated if you would like to retain the original hues of cedar. You can apply oil (we recommend Olwatrol) if you want to retain the original hues of the cedar. The EPDM rubber roof is maintenance-free and has an expected lifespan of over 40 years. The vinyl wrapped UPVC doors and windows require no maintenance at all, an occasional wipe down will keep them looking good as new.  We recommend cleaning out the rear gutter occasionally, especially if the studio is located under trees.

How close can my studio be to my neighbours?

We can install close to the boundary but you will need to allow approx. 150mm for the gutter and downspout which is positioned at the rear.

Do I need to prepare the site before you arrive?

Yes. We simply ask that the ground is flat and reasonably level and that you remove any vegetation from the site. We can also install on concrete if this is already in place. We also ask that you email us photographs or a movie of the site where the Studio is to be installed, which need to be approved prior to confirmation. We can accommodate most situations provided we know in advance.

My garden slopes. Can I still have a studio?

We can accommodate a gradient easily, however our buildings measure just under 2.5m high from the base to the top of the roof. So, if there is a height difference across the site of say 0.3m and we install using the high point as our datum, then overall the building will measure 2.8m high at the low end of the site. It is therefore important to level your site prior to our arrival if you want it to remain under 2.5m high.

Do you include lighting and electrical sockets?

Yes. The QuadPod includes an LED strip light positioned above the window, switch, 4 double sockets  (Office: 2 under the desk, 1 in each back corner, Studio: 1 in each corner) and a junction box positioned on the front.

Can I have underfloor heating?

No. Only with the Contemporary range. We recommend a small, freestanding heater to heat your studio.

Can I have air-conditioning?

No. Only with the Contemporary range.

Can I have a different size?

To keep the QuadPod cost at an absolute minimum we offer three sizes only: the Micro – 2.4m x 1.8m, the Mini 2.4m x 2.4m and the Maxi 3m x 2.4m. If you require a smaller, larger or bespoke size studio you would need to opt for the Contemporary or Aspire range.

How soon can you build my studio?

Please contact us for lead times. We will do our best to accommodate your specific requirements.

Do you need to visit us before you build the studio?

No. We just ask customers to answer a number of questions prior to the installation. If there are any issues, these can normally be ironed out with a phone call or an emailed photograph. This enables us to keep our lead times and costs to a minimum.

Who will build my studio?

Our own in-house team do all the installations. We don’t use any subcontract installers.

Do you have a brochure?

We don’t produce a glossy brochure as we believe in protecting the environment, and of course there is a cost saving which we can pass on to our customers. We are also constantly reviewing and updating our ranges. If you can’t find what you are looking for please do give us a call or send us an email.
