It’s relatively simple to include a bar area- from a compact corner to a space defining feature- the choice is yours. Decide what style you would like to create- this can be from a chill, hang out space right up to an upscale vibe!

Our top tips for creating your very own garden bar are:

A dedicated refreshment making space

Bar Countertop: You can use wood, stone, or concrete for a durable countertop. Tiles or granite might be options if you want a more polished look.

Storage

A built-in shelf behind the bar to store utensils, glassware and cleaning products would be great. You could even purchase a simple kitchen cupboard with integrated drawers to keep it simple.

A small fridge/freezer will ensure your drinks stay cold. Keep plenty of ice in the freezer so warm drinks is never an option!

Seating

The seating you choose can bring everything together. Choose either bar style or homely with a sofa, or even a small table and seating would work.

Bar Stools: Depending on your design, go for stools with a comfortable height and sturdy construction. You can choose outdoor bar stools made of metal, wood, or plastic.

Corner Sofa: The only option if comfort is your ultimate goal. Curl up and get cosy!

Table Seating: You can play with your look either by dressing up with fabric or faux-leather chairs or keep it more simple and opt for cushioned wooden or plastic chairs. With lots of colours and styles available you can really make an impact here.

Sound

Adding a speaker or sound system here will allow you to switch the mood of your garden bar whenever you like. From chill out tunes to party anthems, you decide! A sound system with bluetooth is extra handy as you can change your tunes without having to move!

A sound system also makes any film nights extra special, the more immersive the better!

Décor

Small touches like fairy lights, plants and greenery really add to garden bars. Think trailing plants and perhaps a large centrepiece in the corner of your bar to add a wow factor and help integrate the outdoors, indoors.

You could even create a bar sign with what drinks you have available! Go the extra mile and personalise your garden bar as much as you like. A totally unique space isn’t hard to create and your efforts will be well worth it!
