When choosing your Studio it is imperative to make sure you understand exactly what type is included as all insulation is not equal.

The PIR we use is approximately 3 times better than the same thickness of the fibre type of loft insulation.

So, for example to get the same thermal performance of 10cm thickness of our PIR boards you would need to use around 30cm of the loft roll type.

Because we use the best insulation around, less room is used up within the studio meaning you get the absolute max head height you can in our studios without needing planning permission.

What is insulation?

Insulation is the material that gets built into the walls, floor and roof of our studios to ensure heat is kept in the studio and retained. It is the same as insulation for a home and is vital to ensure a space that can be used all year round and doesn’t cost the earth to heat.

What insulation do you use?

We use aluminium faced PIR rigid insulation boards which is widely used throughout the construction industry to meet strict building regulations regarding energy conservation. It is vastly superior to multi-foil or fibre-based insulations.

This type of insulation also protects against heat gain in the summer months ensuring a comfortable temperature can be enjoyed year-round.

How is it built into the studio?

We use a ‘sandwich’ panel construction, applying various component layers during manufacture in our workshop. This results in a wall panel comprising no less than five different materials in the Contemporary Range incorporating structural elements, insulation materials and cladding.

Can I upgrade my studio insulation?

The only upgrade we offer is acoustic sound insulation- this is very helpful for those wanting to create a soundproofed space. This doesn’t enhance the heat insulation, it is for sound only.

What else affects the warmth of my studio?

Doors and window sizes affect the amount of heat that is lost through the glass, obviously the bigger the surface area of glazing the more potential heat loss. However, you need to balance this with the aesthetic of your Garden Room and amount of natural light you want to come into your studio. All our doors and windows are fitted with top quality double glazing, 28mm thick, argon filled between the panes of glass, and uses special insulating low emissivity glass, all of which is designed to minimise the heat loss.
