Minimum preparation required

We use our own adjustable steel base frame and foundation system so there is no need for a concrete slab to be laid. This enables us to progress quickly with minimum disruption. All we ask is that the site is flat and level and that you remove vegetation from the site. As our studios are under 2.5m high, planning permission is not required in most circumstances but if you are unsure about your planning situation, do call us.

Highly insulated

All of our Hampton garden rooms have fully insulated walls, floor, and roof panels.  We use a ‘sandwich’ panel construction, applying various component layers during manufacture in our workshop.  The wall panels incorporate four different materials including structural elements and insulation materials.  We use aluminium faced PIR rigid insulation boards in the floor, wall panels and roof – this is widely used throughout the construction industry to help meet strict building regulations regarding energy conservation.  It is vastly superior to any of the multi-foil or fibre-based insulations for a given thickness.  For example, 50mm of PIR is equivalent to around 150mm of fibreglass.   This type of insulation also protects against heat gain in the Summer months ensuring a comfortable temperature can be enjoyed year round. The door and glazing to the front is double glazed and uses low emissivity ‘E’ glass which reflects heat back into the room whilst allowing some solar gain.  The doors are A rated and secured by an insurance-approved lock.

Frequently asked questions.

For the Hampton roof, the composite roof panels are maintenance-free and have an expected lifespan of over 40 years. The vinyl wrapped UPVC doors and windows require no maintenance at all, an occasional wipe down will keep them looking good as new. The weatherboard cladding manufacturer recommends repainting on a maximum five year interval depending on where your studio is positioned. We also recommend that you clean out the rear gutter occasionally, especially if the studio is located under trees.

We can install right up to the boundary but do remember you will need access to your junction box or external hook up plug on one side of the studio. You will also need to allow 15cm at the rear for the gutter which must not go over the boundary

Yes. We simply ask that the ground is flat and reasonably level and that you remove any vegetation from the site.We can also install on concrete if this is already in place. We also ask that you email us photographs or a movie of the site where the Studio is to be installed, which need to be approved prior to confirmation. We can accommodate most situations provided we know in advance.

We can accommodate a gradient easily, however our buildings measure just under 2.5m high from the base to the top of the roof. So, if there is a height difference across the site of say 0.3m and we install using the high point as our datum, then overall the building will measure 2.8m high at the low end of the site. It is therefore important to level your site prior to our arrival if you want it to remain under 2.5m high.

Yes. All Hampton studios are built complete with lighting, switch, two double sockets and a junction box or external hook up plug.

No. Only with the Contemporary range. We recommend a small, freestanding heater to heat your studio.

No. Only with the Contemporary range.

No. To keep the Hampton cost at an absolute minimum we only offer two sizes – 2.4m x 2.4m and 3m x 2.4m. If you require a smaller, larger or bespoke size studio you would need to opt for the Contemporary range. If required, we can replace the Western Red Cedar cladding in this range for the weatherboard if one or more side needs to be close to the boundary.

Please contact us for lead times. We will do our best to accommodate your specific requirements.

No. We just ask customers to answer a number of questions prior to the installation. If there are any issues, these can normally be ironed out with a phone call or an emailed photograph. This enables us to keep our lead times and costs to a minimum.

Our own in-house team do all the installations. We don’t use any subcontract installers.

We don’t produce a glossy brochure as we believe in protecting the environment, and of course there is a cost saving which we can pass on to our customers. We are also constantly reviewing and updating our ranges. If you can’t find what you are looking for please do give us a call or send us an email.

Access

Prior to confirmation, you will need to email a movie/photos of the journey from parking to your installation plot for approval. If the only access is through the house and this is approved, there is an additional charge of £250 due to the doors needing to be manufactured in smaller pieces (dependant on size) which is an extra cost to us.
