Not in the vast majority of cases. Our buildings are designed to be 'planning friendly' ie under 2.5m high. This means that as long as you comply with some basic rules, planning permission isn't normally required. Please contact us for further guidance or visit www.planningportal.gov.uk to see the relevant rules yourself.
No. We use our own mini pile foundations combined with pre-formed ground beams.
Yes, extra windows can be positioned on any elavation. Contact us with your requirements and we will gladly provide a quote.
Yes. As we use a modular panel system tight access shouldn't be a problem. We would however like to be told in advance so that we can allow extra time or bring another team member.
We use a modular building system meaning that most of the construction is carried out in our workshop. In practice this means that our smaller studios can be built in one day, with our largest taking up to four days.
The short answer is none. The cedar cladding will gradually turn to a silver/ grey colour over time. You can apply oil (we recommend Olwatrol) if you want to retain the original hues of the cedar.
The EPDM roof has an expected lifespan of over 50 years without maintenance. It has been used extensively in Europe and the USA for over 40 years and over 1 billion square feet is fitted annually in the US alone.
The vinyl wrapped UPVC doors and windows require no maintenance at all.
Most of our studios can be situated as close as 0.5m from your boundaries. If your studio is over 15m2, this needs to be increased to 1m.
No. We use our own stylish and modern panel system on the interior walls. The panels are pre-finished in an off-white hardwearing matt finish, with contrasting coloured shadow gaps. Please take a look at our Gallery to see photographs of the interior.
No. We simply ask that you remove any vegetation from the site. We also ask that you complete our pre-installation questions and to talk us through anything that you feel pertinent. We can accommodate most situations provided we know in advance.
Yes. All studios are built complete with a consumer unit, lights, switches, sockets and an outside junction box. You simply need a local electrician to connect the junction box to your house.
Yes. As long as we know in advance we can accommodate sloping sites. We do use a slightly different foundation system for sloping sites which we need to prepare prior to our arrival.
Yes. We use a system specifically designed to be used under wooden flooring. Please ask us for a price on your chosen studio size.
Yes. We use a combined air-conditioning and air source heat pump system. These provide both heating and and cooling as the name suggests. Please ask if you would like this as an additional feature.
Please contact us for lead times. We will do our best to accommodate your specific requirements.
No. We just ask customers to answer a few questions prior to the installation. If there are any issues, these can normally be ironed out with a phone call or an emailed photograph. This enables us to keep our lead times to a minimum.
No. The Contemporary Range of studios are built for you by our own craftsmen. However, if you are interested in a self-build kit, please contact us as we are currently in the process of developing a DIY range.
Our own in-house team do all the installations. We don't use any subcontract installers.
We don't produce a glossy brochure as we believe in protecting the environment, and of course there is a cost saving which we can pass on to our customers. If you can't find what you are looking for please do give us a call or send us an email.
